The Raccoon Whisperer

This afternoon there was an Animal Fair at Madeleine's school. Every first grader was assigned an animal to research. They compiled their findings in a book and made a habitat, complete with animals sculpted from clay. Madeleine's animal was a raccoon. Over the past several weeks, we have learned just about everything there is to know about raccoons. They eat anything from fish, mice, and trash. I find it particularly intriguing that they eat mice. I would like to have a pet raccoon or at least allow one to live in my crawl space. But I have digressed. We also learned that they live in wooded areas & their babies are called kits.

When we arrived to the school the children were seated with their books and habitats so the parents could go around and view their work. The amount of time these kids put into their research was evident. We were very impressed! Madeleine was tickled by all of the compliments she received from other students and parents. We are very proud of the hard work she put into her project!
