An Afternoon at the Museum

You may have heard me say before that this has been the longest Winter I have experienced since moving here in 1993. I just can't drive home that point enough. Winter just doesn't want to let go. The clouds simply won't part long enough to let the sun shine for more than a day or warm us up to more than 45 degrees. With the constant dreariness one must be creative in finding things to break up the monotony. Today our desire to leave the house and escape the winter blues lead us to Morrill Hall (a museum located on UNL's campus).

Here are Steven and the girls posing at the entrance. That is one "mammoth" of a statue. Ha!
Modeling next to some elephants
My girls just randomly pose for pictures.
Here they are digging for things such as crocodile teeth.Did you know that it is necessary to make a terrifying face when posing in front of a dinosaur?
She looks pretty happy for having her entire arm inside the mouth of a crocodile. My monkey posing with a monkey
It seemed appropriate to have Madeleine pose with this raccoon since she researched them for a school project (see here).
The girls ended the excursion with an archaeological dig.
You may have noticed that the girls were wearing sun dresses; they are just as ready for spring to arrive as I am. Normally I would not allow them to wear such little clothing on a chilly day like today, but I obliged because it feels good to protest the weather. It was fun exploring the museum on this dreary day, but I long for the day when we will be exploring the outdoors and admiring live animals instead of the stuffed variety.
