Adventures in Barbering

It has been quite the day. I have been doing laundry and taking inventory of the girls' spring and summer clothes. I really don't enjoy that task and I took many small breaks throughout the day to break up the monotony. When it was time to pick Madeleine up from school I thought it would be nice to walk, giving Audrey and I the opportunity to enjoy today's 80 degree temperatures. It was such a lovely, leisurely walk too. The wind blowing through our hair, the sun shining on our faces. The only thing that could make it better would be to have Madeleine with us. However, soon enough she would be. When we got to school, we waited patiently for her to come out. I always love the way she comes running up to me with a smile. Today was no different except for the fact that her teacher was accompanying her. She informed me that Madeleine had cut her own hair today and in her hand was an envelope containing the hair. The walk home was not as leisurely. I just kept asking her WHY??? I don't think she really knew why, other than we had been talking about getting her hair cut. I guess she thought she'd be frugal and do it herself. I called our hairstylist immediately and fortunately she was able to get us in right away.

Here is a picture of her butchered piggy tail. I circled the area where she cut. Look closely at the top of the circle to see the different hair lengths. She cut a good 2 inches off.
If we had just evened up what she had cut, her hair would have been just above the shoulder. However, she wanted it shorter than that.
Even though for a while I had contemplated getting her hair cut short (because I can't do hair) this was very hard to watch. She has been growing it out for nearly 2 years. *Sigh* It is just hair and it doesn't take any talent to put a headband on her.

This is our hair stylist Bobbie. She is practically part of the family. She has been cutting my hair for 10 years and did my hair for my wedding and gave Madeleine and Audrey their first hair cuts. All of her long locks were reduced to scraps on the floor.Audrey sat close by and watched the whole time (albeit squirrely)
Here are some after pictures.
