Still being wooed all these years later

In celebration of nine years of marriage Steven planned an extravagant date. He took care of every detail and kept all of it a surprise from me. In fact, I almost foiled his plan when my mom invited the girls and I over for brunch yesterday morning. I received a text from her on Monday afternoon while we were driving home from MN and said yes begrudgingly. After accepting my mom's invitation, I complained to Steven about how tired I would be the next day and that I should really stay home to do laundry and go grocery shopping. I almost texted her back to tell her that I had changed my mind and should really stay home instead. However, Steven started in on how my mom just wants to spend time with her grand kids and I shouldn't deny her of that. By this point I was getting irritated that he wasn't taking my side.

Tuesday morning arrived and I got the girls and myself ready to go to Mom's. Once I saw what she made for brunch I was more than happy to stay. She made a frittata, and banana bread. As I was sipping my coffee I received a text from Steven telling me to check facebook. When I did I saw this written on my wall:

Today may not be our 9 year anniversary quite yet....but today is a day that is dedicated to you. This is your first of several clues that will lead you to me. Don't worry about the girls, Grammy has them all taken care of...tonight you just focus on yourself. Clue #1 you have some shopping you mentioned you wanted to do...please do so. Text me when you have completed this assignment...then i will give you the green light to your next destination. In the meantime...get yourself a little treat at Starbucks and let your shopping begin.

After reading that I became flustered and giddy just like I did when he did this sort of thing before we were married. I kissed the girls good-bye and went shopping for a dress. I took my sister, Natalie, with me to make sure I didn't buy something horribly unflattering. Much to my surprise, I found something I liked right away and headed home where I found my 2nd clue.

My second clue informed me that there was a bag on the bed for me to pack a change of clothes and that the girls were taken care of. I was also informed to text him for my next clue. When I did he told me to meet him at my mom's house at 3:00.

I pulled myself together as quickly as I could and drove to my mom's house where Steven met me. We gave the girls a kiss and a hug good-night and headed out on our date. We saw a movie, ate dinner at The Macaroni Grill where he had made reservations, enjoyed coffee at Starbucks, then spent a relaxing night at a hotel.

Here we are at my parent's house just prior to leaving on our date.

This is the bottle of wine that Steven had chilling in our hotel room.

Our room had a kitchen and here it is with my hunky husband standing in it.

Here is the bedroom,

the bathroom,

and the living room.

The hotel also had a pool, so Steven and I woke up early this morning to pick up the girls so they could get in on the fun as well.

and oh what fun they had!

The only bad thing about our anniversary date was how quickly it ended! We had such a great time and I am so thankful to have a husband who still tries to woo me even though he already has me.
