The Blizzard of 09

We've known all week that the snow was coming, but what no one knew was how much. Some weather forecasters put the fear of death in you saying phrases such as "historical blizzard" & others down played it. Come Christmas Eve it looked like maybe we had dodged a bullet, until about 5:00 that is. It started to snow and it didn't stop until early Saturday morning. Once Steven shoveled the driveway and cleared the snow off of the cars, it started to snow some more. With wind gusts of 40+ mph there has been a lot of drifting snow. Since we live in an older neighborhood with big trees to block the wind, we didn't have the huge snow drifts that others around town have been reporting. For example, my in-laws have 4 foot snow drifts that prevented us from seeing them on Christmas day. We have been cooped up in our house all week (with the exception of a couple hours on Christmas Eve). To say we are stir crazy does not even come close. For my southern relatives who may be reading this, the pictures don't quite do this blizzard justice.

Our snow covered house
The view from our sidewalk. Those big trees have saved us from severe drifting.
Our mailbox
We have a small, one stall garage that won't hold our cars. I wish it could.
Steven going out to shovel. Oh how he wishes we had a snow blower!
Posing near a snow hill
That is our neighbor's garage in the background. He only has one car. He should share the extra space for one of ours don't ya think? :)
Steven and I may think the snow is an inconvenience, but the girls love it!
Where did Audrey go?
Madeleine was building a snow fort
This Christmas blizzard is one for the books. It definitely made for a memorable Christmas!
