Today I am reminiscent . . .

I am remembering back to 4 years ago when we brought Audrey home from the NICU. After she was born Steven and I had resigned ourselves to the fact that she would not be coming home until my due date of February 1. Imagine our surprise and excitement when we found out that she would be home in time for Christmas! She met all of the necessary requirements(from breathing on her own to being able to drink from a bottle) & came home on December 23, 2005.

Aunt Natalie made this sign that adorned our front window upon Audrey's arrival
Here is a 2-year-old Madeleine giving her new sister the once over
I was so excited to have scored a preemie sized Christmas dress for our little miracle. The back drop is a Christmas quilt my mom made for her. Today when Audrey carries it around she will tell you that "Grammy made this for me when I was so little".
Relaxing in her Christmas pj's. Don't let those chubby cheeks fool you. She was 4 pounds when we brought her home!
Here is our little monkey this Christmas! The perfect picture of health!
The weeks leading up to her birth and the 8 weeks she spent in the hospital were difficult, but I would not change any of it. My Audrey is living proof that God does perform miracles today & I have an amazing testimony (as will she) to share with anyone who will listen (and I LOVE to tell it &). Submit all of your requests to God and have faith. . .

Thank you for this post. It is a good reminder of God's lovingkindness and our answered prayers. I remember that time well, and how fragile she seemed...she fooled me. She is a fighter and has an undeniably tenacious and lively spirit. I love you, Audrey Faith, and one of these days Grammy will make you a bigger quilt. :)
