Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful . . .

but a snow day (actually 2) is delightful! Yesterday Lincoln was walloped with a foot of snow in the first blizzard of the season. I know I have a tendency to exaggerate, but according to the National Weather Service we really were in a blizzard warning until noon today. With winds gusting up to 40 mph and wind chills below zero, the weather truly was frightful. I was so thankful that the school district called off school for not one, but TWO days in a row. Yesterday the girls got to play in the snow twice; once with me and once when Steven got home.

After the girls were done playing outside I had some hot chocolate prepared for everyone (except Madeleine because she doesn't like it). Audrey was in the mood to cuddle and hopped up into this chair with me where she stayed for quite some time. I love when my girls are in the mood to cuddle!
Today on day 2 of our snow vacation with a high of only 7 degrees it was too cold to play outside so I had to come up with a way to keep the girls occupied; mostly Madeleine who is used to having something to do all day while in school. Although not particularly creative on my part, I had them decorate Christmas tree cutouts and snow flakes. It kept them happy and occupied for quite some time which makes for a very happy mama. :)
Seeing how it is no longer snowing and the plows have had a chance to do their job, my guess is tomorrow will be back to school and business as usual. I sure was thankful for the break the blizzard caused. :)
