Today we were finally able to celebrate Christmas with Steven's side of the family. As I mentioned in a previous post we were snowed in on Christmas day. This afternoon the adults had a wonderful time visiting with one another & the girls had a blast playing with their new toys. This is Madeleine waiting patiently to open her presents
But first she had to wait for us to sing happy birthday to these two special people. Steven (his birthday is tomorrow) and his grandmother (whose birthday was on December 9)
Audrey hamming it up for the camera while waiting for a slice of birthday cake
Finally time to open presents!! Madeleine received her very own camera. She loves to take pictures with our camera, but now she has her own.
And now she can live her dream of being a rock star with her new Hannah Montana guitar
Isn't she rockin'?
Audrey received some new Fancy Nancy accessories. A posh telephone:
and a dog named Frenchy
I am very excited about this family picture. It is the first one we have taken with Steven's side of the family since our wedding:

Finally, the New Year wouldn't be complete without some resolutions. Seeing how I didn't keep a single one that I made last year I am not going to make any this year . . . except for one. I am going to take on Project 365, which I discovered from following this blog, Stay Classy. Basically, it's a commitment to take at least one photo a day, every day of the year. Then, once a week (probably on Sundays), I'll post my seven pictures from that week. The point is to document daily life, force myself to pick up my camera every day in order to really master it, and find ways to look at my world more creatively. Feel free to participate as well if you have a blog. Happy New Year!

Katie,
I saw that you put poison in the walls for the mice. Just an FYI. Cats are very attracted to the smell of the poison. Also, if the mice eat the poison and then come into the house and your cats find the mice and eat them, then they are also poisoned. I know this because we accidentally poisoned Shelly when we tried to get rid of rats in our shed. Shelly never came outside, but we let her out one day when we were working in the yard and she ventured into the shed and ate the poison. I didn't know it at the time, but the next day she started vomiting blood. I took her to the vet and they gave her a large dose of vitamin K. She lived, but the next year she came down with diabetes. I have always wondered if the poison could have caused it. Anyway, a long story, but be careful and watchful of your cats!
Love you guys,
Dawn
Hi Dawn,
The mice are coming in through a hole they chewed in the wall of our closet. We actually shoved the poison into the wall and covered it with steel wool. We also shoved a rubber maid tote in front of the hole & keep the closet door shut at all times. No more mice have entered the house since we placed the poison. However, the mouse that Sunny did catch (prior to the placement of poison) she did not eat. There was not even a drop of blood on it. She must have played with and broke its neck. Thanks for the word of advice, though. I just wanted you to know that we have taken precautions to keep the cats & our kids safe. :)
Love,
Katie
