Yesterday was a chilly day, but the sun was out in all its glory. Ordinarily I would have stayed inside where it is warm, but I needed to take a picture. So, Audrey and I went on an impromptu field trip to Pioneers Park. The air was crisp, the ground was muddy, and it was wonderful. I just started snapping pictures blindly because the sun was so bright, but when you are photographing God's handiwork it is impossible to take a bad picture.
A frozen pond. As Audrey pointed out, it would be nice to ice skate on it.
Some sort of tree that looks bare now, but soon enough it will be budding with life again.
In a few short months those trees will be covered in leaves again and that pond will be filled with turtles & frogs. Deer will be wading in it as well.
Audrey stopped briefly to pose for a quick picture
This beautiful bird is an American Kestrel

It is quite possible that if I weren't participating in project 365 that Audrey and I would have stayed home yesterday and missed out on some beautiful scenery.
There has been a negative side to my participation in this project. My mom pointed out that she misses reading stories about the girls. I admit, I have been a slacker in that department with my consumption of project 365. So, here is a brief and sure to be riveting update on my family life.
It has been almost one month since our house was invaded by varmints. However, they are dead now (may God rest their souls), but my anxiety caused by them is still alive and well. Every tree branch scraping across the house, every creek, every sound sounds like a mouse in my wall.
Madeleine is doing well in school. She is currently researching raccoons in the computer lab. Yesterday she informed me that they eat mice among other things. Hmmmm, maybe we need a pet raccoon. She has aced every spelling test she has taken and has a passion for reading, writing, and coloring. She recently informed us of the boys she is "crushing" on. She is a very compassionate little girl who still prays nightly for the children of Haiti.
Audrey is very independent. Most days you will find her wearing dress up clothes and playing with her doll house. She is very imaginative, curious, strong-willed, and fun. She also attends pre-school two mornings a week. She loves her teacher and her friends. She too is "crushing" on a little boy. Steven better practice his intimidating father routine!
So, as you can see, nothing too exciting has happened but we are healthy, mouse free, and doing well over all. I can't ask for much more than that!
