Sunday Shopping

Steven and I have discussed purchasing bunkbeds for the girls in order to free up some space in their bedroom. However, Steven does not enjoy shopping so I enlisted my mom & Natalie to help me today. We looked at several different stores and have it narrowed down to 2 different styles:

OR

The top one is slightly more expensive, but is appealing because it is not as tall as the second one. Did I mention that my very cautious and sometimes over protective husband is slightly leery of bunkbeds? He may need some more coaxing but should make up his mind soon because we are dealing with sale deadlines. :)

After a couple hours of looking at bunkbeds I ended up buying a kitchen table. It was not as random a purchase as it may sound. We have been wanting a bigger table for a while but never had the money to buy one. However, today while shopping for bunkbeds my mom & I spotted a table that had been returned by a customer and was marked down to $165! That is CHEAP, especially considering it is real wood and not particle board. The best part is we didn't need to buy chairs because the ones we currently own match just fine until we are able to afford new ones. Here is a picture of my new table:

It will easily seat 6 people whereas our old one sat 4. Natalie will no longer have to sit at the "kid table" (a.k.a. the Little Tykes picnic table) when she and my parents come over for dinner.

P.S. - I will let you know what we decide about the bunkbeds. :)

I love your new table! What a great buy! And I think either bunk bed option is lovely! Getting new furniture is so much fun!

Katie,

I love your new table!! I bought bunk beds for Jen and Leslie for the same reason that you are thinking of and I totally regretted it afterward. They are a major pain to make up. When the girls decided that they wanted their own room, I had to buy new beds. The extra space wasn't worth the hassel for me.
Just a thought. :

I really like your table. Both sets of bunk beds look great. However, we had bunk beds when Mark and Bob were young and I agree with Dawn. Making that top bunk is more trouble than it is worth.
