Funny Story

Since my last post we received an additional 3 inches of snow and the school district called a snow day. The girls and I are being held captive in our house again today so I am sure we will have another indoor "pipnic". Yesterday afternoon I let the girls play in it while I tried to jump start shoveling for Steven. It was Audrey's first time to play in the snow and she loved it. When it was time to go inside she yelled and screamed and threw herself down face first in the snow. However, that is not the funny story I am referring to in the title of this blog.
Last night at 9:15 our electricity went out. Steven scrambled around in the dark looking for candles while I called the electric company to report the outage. The next thing we did was sit on the couch and twiddle our thumbs. I had the bright idea to pack up our things and spend the night at my parent's house since we had no idea how long we would be without electricity. We live in an old drafty house and even with the heater on it is cold. I was afraid with temperatures getting down into the teens overnight that our house would be too cold for the girls. My level headed husband said there was no reason to leave because there was enough heat built up in the house to last for a while. However, I argued that I have seen stories on the news where people have been without electricity for days. His retort was that the electricity would probably come back on within an hour or so. However, just like always, he was a gentleman and let me win the argument and we started packing. After we were done packing and had let the van warm up, we went into the girls' room, woke them up (they were dazed and confused) and put them in the van telling them that we were going to spend the night at grammy's house. After we had them buckled into their carseats we ran inside to blow out all the candles. As we were shutting the door to house the electricity came back on. Awwww man!!! Steven was right (I hate it when that happens)! We had to drag the girls back in kicking and screaming because they wanted to spend the night at grammy's house. Once inside, to make things right, we gave them each a brownie and played a round of go fish. Maybe next time I will listen to my husband. :)

Awww, you're married to a great guy! Sounds an awful lot like my hubby, always humoring me and my worries!

Audrey looks like an adorable little Strawberry Shortcake doll in that picture!
