On Monday, Madeleine and I went to Abby's house to swim. Here is a picture of Madeleine after I told her we were going to Abby's house to swim:
She then proceeded to get all of my stuff together so we could go:
Her parents have an 18 foot wide, above ground pool. It is rather shallow. The water came up to Madeleine's chest, but that did not stop her from wearing floaties. She was terrified of drowning. She would not trust me to guide her, nor did she believe me when I said that the floaties were not doing anything because her feet were touching the bottom of the pool. Abby, on the other hand, is a fish. She was doing summersaults, cannon balls, & floating on her back. Madeleine was very content walking and splashing around in her floaties. Towards the end of our swimming adventure she felt comfortable jumping in from the first step of the ladder and calling it a cannon ball. I have since had a long talk with Madeleine about trust; that she can trust me to take care of her and that I would never let anything bad happen to her. Abby's parents said we can bring her back to the pool anytime to work on her swimming skills. I think we will take them up on their offer. After swimming, Madeleine and Abby played dress up. Before we arrived Abby had written a To-Do list of things she wanted to do. Some of the items on her list were swimming, swinging, playing dress up, to watch 3 dvds, & wear PJs. She was able to check quite a few items off her list. Here are the two little divas:
