The Shack

I just finished reading an Amazing book that I feel compelled to tell you about. It is called The Shack. It is about a man named Mack who is struggling after his youngest daughter, Missy, was abducted during a family vacation. Evidence found in an abandoned shack suggests that she was brutally murdered (I have given nothing away. You can read that information on the back of the book). Several years later he receives a suspicious note in the mail inviting him to the shack and that note appears to be from God. What happens next . . . well, you will have to read the book to find out. I will tell you that this book has given me a new perception of God. The author, William P. Young, manages to tackle the very difficult task of writing about where God is when tragedy strikes. Like many of you, I have faced tragedy and difficult times and it is so easy to blame God. After all, God could have prevented the tragedy and the hurt but He didn't. Why? If you are going through a difficult season in your life you NEED to read this book. Even if your life is a bed of roses right now, you still NEED to read this book. The first 4 chapters are emotionally hard to read, but you have to keep going. You will be so happy that you did!

Ask my family, I am not a big reader. I don't have the attention span for reading, but this book reads so quickly because you don't want to put it down. So, go to your local bookstore (Lemstone, perhaps), library, or put The Shack on your Christmas list. Whatever you do, you must read it and you can thank me afterwards. :)
