Spring Fever!

We have experienced a much needed break from the cold weather over the past several days. Instead of highs in the teens the highs have been in the 50's. I am sure my southern relatives who are reading this think 50 degrees is cold (I used to think the same), however in Lincoln when highs reach the 50's people break out their shorts (literally) and short sleeved shirts. I don't happen to be one of those people, but I think 50 degrees is near perfect and we have been spending as much time outside as possible. On Saturday we took the girls to the park and let them run off some energy. They acted as if they hadn't seen the light of day in years. Madeleine was literally whooping and hollering; she was the loudest child there. :) As she was sliding down the tornado slide she yelled "woo-hoo"! I must admit I felt like singing a little song and doing a dance also.

Eventually our trip to the park had to come to an end and Audrey was not pleased:

When we mentioned that it was time to go she took off running away from her mean 'ole parents and threw herself down in a fit of anger. I really can't blame her. If it were socially acceptable, I would throw myself down in a fit of anger over it as well. :) Being outside is much more fun than being cooped up in our house.

Yesterday afternoon Natalie and I bonded during a walk where neither one of us wore coats. We took Daisy with us and that in itself was enteraining (for those of you who don't know, Daisy is my parent's 90 pound lab, but since I don't have a dog of my own, I love her as my own). She hopped from one pile of snow to another instead of walking on the dry sidewalk. She also landed in a couple mud puddles so we had to bathe her when we got home. Actually, Natalie bathed her using Garnier Fructise. We had high hopes of her smelling like a spring meadow, instead she still smells like dog.

Like all good things, the warm weather must come to an end; tomorrow to be exact. The weathermen are prediciting snow and a high of only 19 degrees is expected. Again, if it were socially acceptable I would throw a fit over that weather forecast. Instead I will just thank God for a taste of what we have to look forward to this Spring.
