Madeleine Starts Taking Piano Lessons

After taking dance lessons for a year, we realized that Madeleine wasn't enjoying it as much as we had hoped. She enjoyed socializing with the other dancers instead of listening to her teacher or on doll day when everyone could bring a doll to dance with she thought it would be more fun to see how high she could toss her doll in the air. Of course, this started a trend and all of the little dancers were tossing their dolls in the air and it looked like a class full of jugglers rather than dancers. The truth is that I had always wanted to be a dancer and I was living out my dream through her.

As soon as Madeleine could talk, she could sing as well. She goes around the house singining Sunday School songs or my favorite "Let it Rise" by Big Daddy Weave. She can actually sing well and on key. Often times she will sit down at our piano and make up a song. A couple days ago she sang a lovely song about how Jesus died for us.

We thought we would take this early sign of talent and run with it. Aunt Natalie is going to teach her how to play the piano and they had their first lesson today. Aunt Natalie bought her several piano books and is making a special tote bag for her to carry them to lessons in. The lesson went well, but she will have to practice and do homework. When asked if she liked taking piano lessons she said, "I want to go back to dance". We were very puzzled because we asked her several times if she liked dance and the answer was always no. So, when we asked her why she wants to go back to dance she said, "because there was no homework".

Don't worry Natalie; she will do her homework. :)Audrey is ready for her lesson too, Natalie. :)

Your description of Madeleine's dancing experience was a crackup! It reminds me of my very short-lived soccer experience when I was a little girl.
