GROW STRONG IN YOUR WEAKNESS. Some of My children I've gifted with abundant strength and stamina. Others, like you, have received the humble gift of frailty. Your fragility is not a punishment, nor does it indicate a lack of faith. On the contrary, weak ones like you must live by faith, depending on Me to get you through the day. I am developing your ability to trust Me, to lean on Me, rather than on your understanding. Your natural preference is to plan out your day, knowing what will happen when. My preference is for you to depend on Me continually, trusting Me to guide you and strengthen you as needed. This is how you grow strong in your weakness. -An excerpt from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
The above was my devotional reading from yesterday. As I curled up in my chair to read, I only had 30 minutes until I had to report for work as a substitute for a special-ed para educator. It was only my second assignment since becoming a substitute and I was feeling uneasy. While there are many benefits to being a sub, the downside is not knowing from day to day if I am going to work, where I am going to work, or with whom. For someone who thrives on structure and struggles with social anxiety, not knowing what the day to day holds is daunting. So imagine my relief when I opened up my book to find that God was speaking directly to me: "Your natural preference is to plan out your day, knowing what will happen when. My preference is for you to depend on Me continually, trusting Me to guide you and strengthen you as needed." I had received the reminder that I so desperately needed at the exact moment I needed it. I don't need to know what is going to happen on a daily basis. I just need to trust God to guide me and to give me strength as I need it. Maybe you need that reminder today as well.
