It is hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone. We had a wonderful one. Once again, Steven and I are were humbled by the generosity of our parents. It wasn't just the girls who were spoiled with gifts, Steven and I got more than our fair share as well and we are so grateful! We are also thankful that our families live in town so that we can easily spend quality time with them.
After an amazing church service on Christmas Eve, we went to my parent's house where we ate taco salad, just as we do every year. When we moved to Lincoln from San Antonio, my mom wanted to incorporate a taste of home; a little tex-mex in our Christmas meal and we have been eating Mexican food on Christmas Eve ever since.
When my family gets together it is loud! We are a boisterous crew. We had an awesome time visiting over dinner, enjoyed watching the girls open gifts, drank coffee, ate Christmas cookies, and played games until Audrey could no longer hold her eyes open.
The girls posed for pictures in front of Grammy and Papa's tree.
She was such a ham, posing herself for the camera . . .
while Audrey was more down to business. She just wanted to get her picture taken and get on with it.
Papa got this bear for Madeleine and she loves it! It is in bed with her as I write this.
Audrey literally shook with excitement when she received this Rapunzel doll from the movie Tangled.
Madeleine received a lot of gifts that will foster her love of art.
A new comforter means a room makeover for Audrey.
A new coat for Madeleine
Tangled figurines for Audrey
On Christmas morning, after opening presents, we had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Then we had a little free time to play with our new toys (or take a nap in my case) before we headed to the home of Steven's family.
Madeleine received ladybug earrings from Steven and I. It was a Christmas miracle that she let me take out her old earrings and put in the new. She is so squeamish when it comes to her earrings!
Both of the girls got new hats and boots (actually, Audrey inherited boots from Madeleine when she got new ones. She was thrilled!)
In this picture Steven is painstakingly removing all of the Tangled figurines from their package.
Later we found these on the coffee table . . . rejects according to Audrey.
Later it was time to head to Steven's parent's house . . . where the girls opened presents for a third time! They are very blessed little girls.
Madeleine is opening up a sticker maker from her Aunt Amanda.
Audrey is getting help opening her presents from Neeko.
Madeleine loves her new princess color wonder set! She started coloring in it right away.
And because she doesn't have enough stuffed animals already, uncle Sean got Audrey this life sized dog that she has lovingly named Neeko.
This slightly out of focus picture shows you just how big the dog is.
After all of the excitement of the day, we came home and put the girls to bed early, then Steven & I curled up and watched a movie. Steven has the rest of the week off so we are looking forward to lots of family time including games, crafts, and movies. I feel so content.
I have a riveting update. In my last project 365 I posted a picture of my new tree skirt. As you may know, I was not too thrilled with it. Well, I am happy to report (as if you care) that I found a much prettier one today that suits my fancy. More importantly, there is no creepy Santa on it. Not that I have anything against the jolly big guy, I just don't want him on my tree skirt. Without further ado, here is my new tree skirt:
Santa has been replaced with snow flakes.
So, I guess the jig is up. I am very OCD when it comes to my tree skirts. I hope you all had a very merry Christmas!

I like the new skirt, shimmery snowflakes are much better than creepy santa. The girls are growing out their bangs! They look lovely and they are growing up. Glad you all had a great Christmas, I missed getting to see you guys...sorry, it didn't work out with my family circumstances this time :)
