Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Today was a big day.  Madeleine's best friend, Abby, came over for a play date.  It had originally been scheduled for last week, but had to be postponed due to the fact that Madeleine came down with strep throat.  When school is not in session, they miss each other dearly and the anticipation of this play date was intense (for Madeleine at least).  She was waiting at the front window by 12:00 even though Abby wasn't due to arrive until 1:00.  Once she finally did arrive, the girls wasted no time.  The first thing on the agenda was to make rings.

They were kind enough to pause momentarily so I could snap this picture.

After painting and bejeweling plastic rings, each of the girls colored their own tattoo.

As you can tell by the fact that Madeleine decorated herself with 2 rather large tattoos, she really loves them.  Just to be on the safe side, Steven recently told her that real ones are applied with needles.  Nothing wrong with a healthy dose of fear.

Madeleine and Abby happily modeled their tattoos that wrap around their arms while Audrey stood close by.

Actually, Audrey made a tattoo also.

Audrey was a typical little sister in that she acted out in a desperate attempt to get attention from the big girls.  She was literally bouncing off the walls and yelling, "Abby look at me!" as she did.  I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for her, especially when I reprimanded her in front of Madeleine and Abby. After doing so, she hung her head and said, "I am embarrassed".  After that moment, Audrey's squirrely behavior improved and the big girls were kind enough to include her.  Even though Audrey played characters that ultimately died in their imaginary games & someone did strategically play a lullaby CD in attempt to lull her to sleep, she had a GREAT time hanging out with the big girls today!

The girls also kept themselves occupied by making stylish bead bracelets, coloring, brownie eating, singing, dancing, duck duck goose, hide and seek, and lots of imaginary play.  The play date was a huge success and I am so thankful that Madeleine has made such a wonderful friend in Abby.

Looks like a happy day for all 3 girls. Audrey does look pretty exited in that one photo. :) So glad Madeleine and Abby will be in the same class.
