Enjoying What is Left of Summer

The Summer is quickly coming to an end, although the persistent heat is not an indication of that.  Rather, the back to school sales and school packets arriving in the mail are.  With that being said we are trying to make the most of our last care free days.

On Friday we went to the zoo with my mom.  When she comes along the girls get to do things that they ordinarily don't get to; like riding the ponies for example.

They don't look like they had a good time at all.  Something else they got to do that they ordinarily don't get to was feed the goats.  It's not that I have anything against the goats (although they are dirty) its just that I never have the cash necessary to purchase the goat food (I use my debit card for everything).  However, because Grammy was with us they got to feed them.

Madeleine gently fed them one piece of food at a time

while Audrey cautiously watched in the background.

I love this picture of my mom with my girls in the infamous Eagle's nest.

After riding the ponies and feeding the goats we visited Madeleine's favorite attraction at the children's zoo; The Butterfly Pavilion.

The butterflies were being a bit stubborn and the girls were having a hard time catching one.  Although Audrey felt very conflicted.  She thought she wanted to catch one, but upon coming close she would say, "it is too hairy"!
However, after much persistence and patience, Madeleine did catch one.

Yesterday, we braved the heat and took a walk in the nature center at Pioneers Park.  The girls love to go there because of the wildlife you get to see.  Like this frog, for example.
It almost got stepped on because it blended in so well to its surroundings.  Although the girls and I don't like spiders, we couldn't deny the beauty of this web.

And just because I think they are beautiful, I will show you a few more of my favorite pictures that Steven took on our walk.  His photography skills and what he can do with a point and shoot camera amaze me.

Speaking of photography, I haven't forgot about my Project 365 post.  I am just lacking inspiration and can't think of anything to photograph today (although Steven has given me some rather interesting ideas).  So, with that being said  I need to think on it and will publish that post later.
