Before I begin, here is a picture of the sun rising outside of our bedroom. I never grew tired of looking at the view!
The first attraction we saw while in Colorado was the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center. We were given a guided tour through the museum. I must say that I went to the museum begrudgingly (I am not fond of dead things) but left feeling smarter than when I entered. For example, did you know that the Pterodactyl was not a dinosaur because dinosaurs did not fly? In fact, the pterodactyl was a pterosaur (winged reptile). If I remember right, one of the characteristics of dinosaurs include arms in the front of the body (not to the side). There were others, but I seem to have forgotten. Anyway, on to the pictures!
We thought our friend, Tyler, would like this picture. Those are the teeth of a megalodon (a rare find, I might add). All that is ever found of this prehistoric shark are the teeth because cartilage (what the shark's body was composed of) does not fossilize. Can you imagine seeing this mouth swimming towards you in the ocean?!
The museum boasts the world's only partial skeleton of a Pachycephalosaurus and we were privileged to see it.
After we had our fill of dinosaur bones we had lunch then went on a hike on trail near our cabin. This sign is posted at the trail head.
One of the things it says to do if faced with a Mountain Lion is to make yourself look large, like so.
I climbed the rocks to the top of this waterfall (falling and scraping my leg, I might add). I was not made to climb rocks, but I'm glad I tried!
Another view of the same water fall. I wonder if Green Mountain Falls was named after this waterfall?

I am loving these posts!
I showed Tyler this morning. "WHOA! That is very cool. How did they get a jaw? Wait...Is that a replica? Now I'm not as impressed." I thought you'd get get a kick out of that ;)
