Happy New Year!

I would like to wish you all God's richest blessings in the new year. I have some resolutions for the year 2009 and am going to put them on my blog so I can be held accountable by anyone who has read them.

  1. Lose 20 pounds. I have already lost 15, but need to lose an additional 20. Seeing how my youngest child is now 3 years old I cannot use "baby weight" as a crutch anymore.
  2. Be more spontaneous! I am a planner and a schedule follower. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, it does not leave room for spontaneity. Sometimes I miss out on a good time because it does not fit into my routine.
  3. Stop worrying! I am a worry wart and worry about everything from the trivial, to things so huge I have absolutely no control over them. I will keep the following bible verse close to my heart. "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring it's own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." Matthew 6:34 (NLT)
  4. Be patient! This is in regards to my parenting skills (I admit that I am not as patient with my children as I should) as well as in my daily life. I tend to want everything in my life to fall nicely into place and I want it that way now.
  5. Finish reading the bible. I started this task in the spring and got mid-way through Judges before I stopped.
  6. Be the best mom, wife, friend, daughter, and sister I can be. However, if I fall short of perfection know that it is okay.
There you have it. I have many things I need to work on in 2009, but the above are at the top of my list.

Now I am going to start preparing for what should be a fun evening. The girls are going to spend the night at Grammy and Papa's so Steven and I can have some much needed time alone. Steven's birthday is tomorrow and we are going to start celebrating a little early. This will be the first time Audrey has ever spent a night away from home and it will only be Madeleine's second; the first time being when she was 2 and a half. I am a little apprehensive about what it will be like without them in the house at bedtime and what it will be like in the morning when no one comes into our room at 6:50 a.m. However, refer to resolution # 3. I am going to relax and enjoy the quiet!
