MUMs, Pneumonia, and Snow . . . Our Week In Review

The week started out fine enough. There was no school on Monday or Tuesday so I had both of my girls home during the day to keep me company. On Tuesday morning I started a bible study at church called MUMs (Mothers Uplifting Mothers). While I am in bible study Audrey has structured play time with other children her age. She refers to it as school. :)

At the start of the week Madeleine started to cough. Since Steven had pneumonia we thought it was best to take her to the doctor to make sure she wasn't coming down with it too. Our doctor gave her a clean bill of health so we went to a scheduled play date as planned. Later that same evening she started to run a fever so we kept her home from school the following two days until the fever was gone. At least Audrey wasn't sick.

Until today, that is. She was fine until late last night when she started coughing and wheezing. I took her to the doctor first thing this morning and found out she has "junky lungs". In other words, she has pneumonia. She was prescribed an antibiotic and I am praying she will start to feel better soon. I always feel heartbroken when my kids are sick, especially when I know how rotten they feel and there is not a whole lot I can do to make them feel better. We have done a lot of cuddling and rocking. While tending to my sicks kids this week I have been thinking of Abby and her family. She is the little girl I requested prayers for last week. You can follow her story here, where laughter lives . . . The Riggs Family Blog . I am thankful that all Audrey has is pneumonia and that an antibiotic taken once a day will make her better. I have been praying for Abby every day and if you are reading my blog for the first time I encourage you to do the same. You can also join her prayer group on facebook and get daily updates.

We will be staying indoors this weekend so as not to share our germs with others. Seeing how it is snowing outside it is another good reason to stay home. The ironic thing about the blizzard outside today is that it was 60 degrees yesterday. Only in Nebraska . . . :) Have a great weekend!

While Madeleine was home sick she spent the majority of her time propped up in our Lazy Boy watching princess movies. This is the face of pneumonia
