Madeleine's Birthday Party & Easter

We had an exciting weekend.  Madeleine's birthday party was on Saturday afternoon.  We had 5 giggling girls in our home and they all received makeovers.  My sisters helped me turn our living room into a salon for a couple of hours.  Each girl was pampered with a manicure/pedicure, makeup, and fun hairstyle.  When they were done Steven took their picture.  I think we succeeded in making them feel beautiful and pampered.

Here are Madeleine and Audrey after having their hair and makeup done.

Here are all of the beautiful girls.  Madeleine has been blessed with a very wonderful group of friends.

A birthday party wouldn't be complete without cake. Madeleine requested a ladybug one this year.  I made the mama ladybug while my sister (Gracie) made the baby ladybugs.

A big thanks to my sisters who took time out of their busy schedules to make Madeleine's birthday so special.  We couldn't have pulled off a makeover party without them!

And of course adding to the excitement of our weekend was the fact that it was Easter (Madeleine just so happened to be born on Easter).  The sermon at church really struck a chord with me.  Well, they usually do, but this one even more so.  It was about the resurrection of Jesus (no surprise there), but more specifically the fact that Jesus chose Mary Magdalene, who was considered an outcast, to be the first witness of His resurrection.  It was a reminder that God sometimes uses the most unlikely people (according to the world's standards anyway) to further His kingdom.  Even if you feel as though the world has discarded you, God may choose to use you in an amazing way.

After church we went to The Sunken Garden to snap a few pictures of the girls in their Easter dresses before heading to my family's house for the afternoon.

Almost perfect . . .  if Audrey had been looking at the camera.

We ate, played outside, hunted for Easter eggs, watched Tangled, and ate some more.

It was a happy Easter indeed!
