Here is the bus pulling in. That was the one part of the field trip that made me nervous . . . trusting a stranger to drive Madeleine in a bus without seat belts. I had to fight off the urge to follow the bus there. Instead, I just had Steven text me when the bus arrived safely. The bus ride was actually Madeleine's favorite part of the day!
Stepping off of the bus
I can imagine that in this picture she was happy to see her daddy (the parents did not ride the bus. They drove separately and met the class there).
The kids were separated into groups and each group went on a nature walk with a tour guide. Each child was given a clear box to collect bugs in. Madeleine has a spider in hers. Since she is afraid of spiders I can guarantee that Steven put the spider in her container.
Showing off a leaf she found on her walk
The children also learned about animal habitats; something she told us all about over dinner. In this picture they are looking at an injured bald eagle that was found on the side of the rode with a broken wing. Unfortunately this bird will never be able to live in the wild again.
Playing hopscotch
So, I guess you could say her first field trip was a success.
