The Reason for my Hiatus

As I mentioned in my last post, our water heater busted about 2 weeks ago. Ever since we have been dealing with the aftermath. In the last two weeks we have had strangers in our house every day (drying, cleaning, repairing, measuring, etc) except for a handful. I don't handle stressful situations well. My heart starts to race, I get butterflies in my stomach, and I look and act like this most of the time:
Thankfully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Lowe's is coming to our house tomorrow to install the new carpet in our living room and hallway. In fact we took advantage of a fabulous carpet sale that Lowe's was having and were able to purchase carpet for our bedroom as well with the insurance money we received. Currently our bedroom has what we like to call "Austin Powers Carpet". It is very shagadellic, baby! :) I will post some before and after pictures when it is all done; no worries!

I feel like our summer did not get off to a great start and that my girls are paying the price. Our house is a mess as we move things out of the rooms to be carpeted and the girls' normal schedules have been derailed. However, I have been able to do some fun things with them in the midst of our chaos.

On Monday we met Madeleine's best friend, Abby, at the park. This was the first time they have seen each other since the last day of school. They have missed each other, can you tell?
Audrey enjoyed playing with the big girls!
I enjoyed getting to know Abby's mom. We found out that Abby will be taking dance at the same academy as Madeleine. :)

Yesterday we went on an adventure of sorts to Pioneers Park. I realized on the way there that Steven always drives when we go to that park and I am never paying attention. So, yesterday I got lost on the way there & had to call Steven at work to get directions. Sheesh! I have lived here for 16 years and I still got lost. Anyway, Madeleine thought it was fun and said we were explorers. Here are some pictures I took once we made it to the park.
I love this particular park because you get to see animals in their natural habitat; living free. That was such a breath of fresh air in an other wise crazy week. One final note before I wrap this up and continue prepping the house for new carpet. My mom started a blog, Reflections. She has already written 3 posts that you should check out. :) The next time I write I will have new carpet and the story of the water heater will be a thing of the past.
