8 Years of Marriage, Graduation, & Water Heaters

8 years ago I married my best friend. We have weathered a lot the during the past 8 years, but I can honestly say that it has made us stronger and closer as a couple. Even at the risk of sounding cheesy I would have to say that I love him more today than I did then. Happy Anniversary, Steven! :)

Since in last year's post I included a wedding picture, I thought I'd post a really old-school "Steven and Katie Picture" this year. This picture was taken before we were married in 1998.

And many years and several pounds later, here we are today. This picture was taken by Madeleine.

On Saturday afternoon Natalie graduated from high school.

I was so excited for the weekend's festivities. My aunt Dawn was here from Galveston so there was going to be good food and good company. I was really looking forward to a weekend of kickin' back. That is until we woke up on Saturday morning to a busted water heater and all 40 gallons of water it once held in our living room, hallway, and computer room. The weekend I had been looking forward to quickly turned into a weekend from (well, you get the idea).

In the days that followed we spent many hours vacuuming up water. Yesterday the insurance adjuster came to our home and surveyed the damage. I am very thankful that the carpet in the living room & hallway will be replaced. Since only a small amount of water got into the computer room they will replace the pad and clean the carpet in that room. In the mean time 10 industrial sized fans and a de-humidifer were placed in our home.

The fans are very loud and are circulating the stench of mildew throughout our house, so we have been staying at my parent's house. My cats are traumatized. Here is Sunny underneath Audrey's bed. I tried to lure her out with a treat, but with no success. I just slid her treat under the bed instead.So, to celebrate our anniversary Steven and I will go out for dinner and shopping for new carpet.
