We have had a stormy start to our Spring here in Nebraska. Last night the weatherman said it has rained the last 15 out of 17 days. Now, I love a good rainfall or thunderstorm every now and again. However, when the potential for tornadoes is lingering my pulse starts to quicken. Living in NE you get used to tornado watches and windy weather; in fact you start to take the tornado watches for granted because they happen so often. However, the past week we have had several storms that made us stand up and take notice. Last night, for example, Lincoln actually went under a
tornado warning and they sounded the civil defense sirens. Now, I happened to be at work so my co-worker and I locked the door and headed to the stock room. Believe it or not I wasn't scared until we turned on the radio and heard that a storm spotter actually spotted a tornado just north of Lincoln. Here is a picture of the wall cloud that was of concern:

Isn't that amazing? Thankfully Lincoln dodged the bullet (we usually do) and all we got out of that cloud was heavy rain. Poor Madeleine takes after her mother and goes into hysterics when the weather turns bad. Last night I called her from work and her voice was quivering and Steven told me later that she had big crocodile tears streaming down her face. Last night before bed she prayed a prayer that went something like this " Dear Jesus. Please watch over us as we sleep and don't let the tornadoes come. Please keep us safe. Amen." Unfortunately tonight is going to be another stormy one and the weathermen are predicting an outbreak of tornadoes. I will be at work, but the girls and Steven will hanging out in the safety of my parent's house since they have a basement. Oh the joys of living in tornado alley.

I checked the radar last night and thought I would be ok to go for a walk. When I was at about my farthest point from home the sirens started to sound. I could tell the storm was to the north but it is still a very eerie feeling to be out there when the sirens sound. Daisy and I picked up the pace and Daddy met us as we turned the corner onto London Road. I guess I won't be walking tonight.
