I have begun the dreaded task of potty training Audrey. I have been putting it off for a while now, but finally decided it needed to be done. Steven and I decided it would be best to put her in underwear right away rather than pull-ups to avoid confusion. We figured after she soiled herself a couple of times she would get the idea that it is uncomfortable to be wet. She
is completely uncomfortable when she has an accident, but what she hasn't grasped yet is the feeling you get
before you have to go. Today has been particulary trying as I have spent the majority of the day in the bathroom with Audrey. While she sits on the potty I read her stories, sing songs, or paint her toe nails. She has litterally been sitting on the potty for 20 minutes at a time today. I put off taking my shower this morning until 10:30. At this time I decided I had made her sit on the potty long enough (she had a red circle in the shape of the toilet on her bootie) and I would quickly take my shower before sitting her on the toilet again. As Iwas enjoying a warm shower and singing my brains out Audrey came in and said "I pooped". Usually when she says that she actually means that she has peed and if we immediatly put her on the potty she will finish going. Well, today she actually meant what she said but I didn't realize that until it was too late. I was rather helpless because I was covered with suds in the shower. So, I told her to take off her undies and sit on the potty. She did just that and as she removed her undies little terds fell to the floor. Awwwww man! I quickly finished up in the shower and cleaned her up. I gave her a break from sitting on the potty, then when one of her favorite shows came on I thought it would be a good idea to set her on the potty chair in the living room so she could watch TV while on the potty. Long story short, she didn't pee in there either. In fact, she hasn't gone in the potty at all today. I am starting to wonder if she is holding it. She is currently napping and is in a diaper. We'll see if it is saturated when she wakes up . . .
Although there hasn't been much success today, she has gone potty successfully before. On Saturday she went pee and poop in the potty! :) At this point it is a matter of timing and luck. Hopefully in a week or so I will be able to report back that she has almost mastered it.
Here she is modeling her "big girl" panties
And here she is sitting on her throne in the living room
