Preston Michael

One of my best friends, Nancy, delivered her third baby yesterday morning at 12:57 a.m. She had been struggling with high blood pressure throughout her pregnancy, but over the weekend it spiked to a dangerous level so her doctor said that the baby needed to be delivered immediately. He was 5 weeks early but weighed an amazing 7 lbs, 15 oz at birth!!! She just grows big babies as all of her children were big at birth. His lungs are underdeveloped so he is on a ventilator. They are hoping he can come off of it tomorrow. He will most likely be in the hospital for 7-14 days.

I went to the hospital yesterday to visit with Nancy and Preston. Both of them looked wonderful!! I was flooded with memories of Audrey's premature birth when I entered the NICU. In fact, Preston is in the same room that Audrey called home for the majority of her time in the NICU.
Would you join me in praying for Preston's speedy recovery? Would you also pray for Nancy's health? Even a day and a half after his birth her blood pressure is still too high.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24

On a lighter note, yesterday afternoon I called my mom (who was going to be coming over to my house anyway) asking if she could come over an hour early so I could go to the hospital to see Nancy before heading to work at 5:00. Those of you with young children in the house can probably relate to what I am about to say. Every time I get on the phone, especially when it is an important call, my children start behaving like little monsters. I was trying to fill my mother in on the details of Preston's birth and my girls are running laps around the house like it is a race track. Audrey starts yelling at me, "I want milk!" and Madeleine yelled something at me too but I cannot recall what. I finally locked myself up in their room for the remainder of the conversation. At the end of the phone call I emerge from their bedroom to find that Madeleine had drawn a goatee on her face with a ball point pen!!! I have a temper to begin with, but add stress on top of that and watch out! I blew up like an erupting volcano. "What were you thinking?" I yelled. "We weren't happy when you colored all over your legs, what makes you think that coloring on your face would be any better??"She just looked at me wide eyed as I started scrubbing her face with a soapy wash cloth. Keep in mind that I really needed to get ready to leave the house since my mom would be over any minute. Then it donned on me, that she had just finished watching Veggie Tales the Ultimate Silly Song Countdown with Larry the cucumber:

or maybe she was trying to look like her daddy:Who knows what she was thinking. However, after thinking about it I started laughing and realized that no matter what she was thinking she had lightened the mood. I apologized for yelling and gave her a big hug. I also reminded her that she should not be adding any physical charecteristics to her body with a ball point pen (or with anything else for that matter). :)
