March For Babies 2008

Today my mom, Steven, the girls, and I walked in the March of Dimes March for Babies. We could not have asked for better weather; sunny and 60 degrees. I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who donated money to support me in the walk. It means a lot to me as it is an organization that is close to my heart. Without God's mercy and the research done by the March of Dimes, Audrey and many other babies born prematurely may not be alive today.

It turned out to be a longer day than expected because the walk started an hour later than I thought it would. Thankfully there were activities to keep the kids occupied. There were also many mascots present. Runza Rex (a big green dinosaur who is the mascot for Runza Resteraunts here in the midwest), Homer the K-9 (the mascot for our baseball team, the Saltdogs), and someone in a Coyote suit. Anyway, Audrey LOVED them all. So much so that when it was time to say good-bye to them & begin the walk she threw a fit in true Audrey fashion. Oh, she was mad! She eventually calmed down. In the van on the way home she said, "I liked the dinosaur. He was so cute!" :)

Here is a video of Audrey admiring the dinosaur. Steven tried some fancy videography (is that a word?) and the first part is sideways . . . whoops! But you can still get the idea. :)

This is how the girls passed the time while waiting for the walk to begin:
Here's the family posing in front of the poster I made. Part of the trail was lined with posters depicting different babies' stories of survival. It is awesome to see the before and now pictures. There are a lot of miracle babies!
