A Soggy Day at the Pumpkin Patch

Every year since Madeleine was a baby, we have visited a Pumpkin Patch. It has become a Fall tradition. Yesterday we went to Vala's Pumpkin Patch in Gretna, NE. It is about a 30 minute drive from Lincoln. I was looking forward to the outing with great anticipation. I was especially excited to take our annual picture in the pumpkins. Our excursion took longer than anticipated as we had to take a detour on the way there. Once we finally arrived to the Pumpkin Patch it appeared that everyone in Nebraska had the same idea because we had to wait in a long line of cars for approximately 30 minutes before entering. Once we were in, the weather turned yucky. At first it was simply overcast and mildly chilly. Then it started to rain. It started off as a light mist, then turned to a heavy drizzle. We stuck it out for a couple hours so the girls could experience the pumpkin patch. There was a train that went around the pumpkin patch that Audrey was fascinated by. Papa took her for a ride on that. Madeleine was not at all interested, rather she went down a slide, fed a camel, and went through the Storybook Barn. It had all of her favorite Disney Princesses inside. Due to the rain and the extreme amount of mud, we were not able to take our pumpkin picture. However, the girls didn't seem to mind.

Another Fall tradition we have (although not as fun) is clearing our front lawn of leaves. We have two BIG trees in our front yard that turn a lovely shade of orange, but soon after fall to the ground. Last year we collected 50 bags of leaves for the trash man. This year we have not had the opportunity to rake as it has been raining since Friday evening. However, Madeleine and Audrey have taken advantage of the crunchy leaves by jumping in them and making "leaf angels".

Fun video clip! Yes it was a very soggy day at the pumpkin patch. Thank goodness we had Natalie's William Hung CD to listen to while we waited in that loooooong line!
