Gracie's Visit

We were blessed to have my sister "grace" us with her presence (sorry, I couldn't resist) for the past week. We enjoyed good food, a lot of coffee, some shopping, a movie (August Rush), some more food, a slumber party, a lot of lounging around, and more food. :) The highlight of her visit would have to be when we had our family picture taken (if you could hear me talking you would notice a hint of sarcasm in my voice). We try to have a picture of the entire Knuth/Lewis family taken once a year and our appointment was scheduled for 5:00 on Saturday. We arrived in good moods and looked pretty snazzy in our new clothes, but the good moods slowly disappeared as we waited 50 minutes for our turn. Once we were finally called, the photographer snapped our pictures at the speed of light not really paying attention to small details. Audrey had her fingers in her mouth for almost every shot, my hair is in my face for another, and Madeleine had on her goofy "cheese" face. :)

Once round 1 was completed it was time for round 2. Round 2 you ask? Gracie bought everyone in the family a red shirt from the Gap since the proceeds are donated to Africa. Since she is going on a missions trip to Africa she thought it would be neat to have our picture taken in them. On any other day the idea might have been neat, but on this particular day while being surrounded by wall to wall people and trying to contend with a grumpy 2 year old, the idea sounded bad. However I was patient and participated like a good big sister. Here is the picture:

I am going to be in SO MUCH trouble for showing it because Grace hates it. She thinks that it was posed poorly and that she looks goofy. I happen to disagree with both, but my opinion doesn't matter because the next day at my parent's house we had to take the picture again. I will refrain from showing the new one since she should be the one to reveal it (since the whole red shirt thing was her idea). For the record, it really was a good idea and I am sorry that the picture did not turn out as she had hoped.

Other than the picture taking fiasco, we really had a good visit. However, like all good things, her visit had to come to an end and she flew home to CA yesterday. We miss her already and can't wait to see her again this Spring/Summer.
