Short Cuts Make Long Delays

I have been meaning to update my blog for awhile; ideas and words swirling around in my head but never making it to the keyboard.  Then Mono and a broken wrist thwarted my plans even further.  ***I would like to interrupt this regular scheduled blog post to give my husband props.  He has done everything from the  girls' hair, laundry, and dishes to helping me get dressed and wash my hair. He has cooked some awesome dinners and packed healthy lunches.  He's been a chauffeur, errand runner, and owie mender all while continuing to go to work to support us.  He's Super with a capital "S" and I love him.***    While not a lot (or nothing actually) has been happening on my blog, the same cannot be said for my life; it has been full.  Here is a glimpse of what's been distracting me from my blog:
On Dec. 15 Audrey participated in a holiday gymnastics showcase.  She jumped, flipped, and balanced for a captive audience.

We had a wonderful Christmas.

My niece, Samantha Love, celebrated her first Christmas.  She was surrounded by a multitude of people who love her and received lots of fun gifts.

The girls spent most of December sledding.

Madeleine made some cool jewelery thanks to a kit she received from her Aunt Natalie.

Cousins!

We rang in the New Year with this little sprite.  These pictures were taken after a rousing game of toss the baby on the bean bag chair.
Sam LOVES her Uncle Steve!  We are really missing her around here lately.  My mom is currently watching Sam while my wrist heals. I really miss her, but try to make it over to mom's frequently to meet my snuggle quota.  I can't wait until I can scoop her up again.
Last week Madeleine transformed our dining room into a salon and treated me to a manicure.

Are you jealous of my purple cast?  I thought so.

She did a lovely job.

I would like to end this post with some words of wisdom.  Ahem.  Never, ever, attempt to walk down a muddy hill.  It will most likely not end well.  "Short cuts make long delays" -J.R.R. Tolkien.
