The Conclusion of Our Vacation in the Mountains

Sadly, all good things must come to an end as did our vacation in the mountains.  On the morning of July 1 we packed up our cars and set out on the road toward Nebraska, but not before snapping a few final pictures.  I enjoyed one last cup of coffee in a rocking chair on the back porch.  The girls got their last "rock" in too.

The mountains of Pike's Peak Resort served as a lovely backdrop for one last picture.

Make that several more pictures.

I took pictures of the cabin we stayed in so I'd always remember it.  Madeleine served as my model making the pictures more pleasing to the eye.

Our living room.

The stair case.

The bedroom that Gracie and the girls shared.  Madeleine is curled up in her bed.

Mine and Steven's room

The view outside our window, that was open all day and night allowing a cool breeze to continuously circulate through the room.

The top of the staircase.

The back of our cabin.

The kitchen.

I am sure we would all agree that Madeleine makes a prettier model.

Before I snapped these pictures of the dining room I told everyone to look natural.  Now, look at Scott's definition of natural.

I took this picture of Pikes Peak at a gas station while Steven was filling up our van.  A gas station.  Can you imagine having that kind of view every time you put gas in your car?  It would almost make one forget about the cost of gas.

As we were leaving town, before we got on the interstate, we saw a mother deer with her baby.  We saw them as we were turning so I was unable to take a picture.  I will have to rely on the snapshot I have in my memory

We marveled over the beauty of these snow capped mountains as we were driving on the interstate.  You can barely tell where the clouds end and the snow on the mountain begins

Several times over the course of chronicling our vacation I have felt a little sad that we are no longer at the remote and peaceful wilderness cabin and that our time there went by so quickly.  I occasionally find myself longing to drink my coffee on the back porch where the only sounds are that of the birds and mountain breeze.  However, as wonderful as it was, in the end there is no place like home.   Pikes Peak will be there waiting for our return.
