A Wonderful Weekend with Japan on my Mind.

We had a wonderful weekend.  Some of the things we enjoyed were sun and 68 degrees on Friday.  This necessitated an impromptu lunch date with Steven, so Audrey and I stole him away from work and met him at Subway.  Later that afternoon the present I ordered for my mom's birthday arrived, on her birthday, just in time for me to give it to her a couple hours later.  The girls, my sisters, and I treated her to coffee and a snack at Panera.
Madeleine took this picture.

After indulging ourselves in coffee and pastries (I devoured a delectable orange cranberry muffin) we walked around the mall where I drooled over purses that I will never be able to afford (but they are so purdy).   That evening, Steven, the girls, and I had a pizza/movie night.  We ate our dinner picnic style in the living room while watching Alpha and Omega.  It is a cartoon we had not yet heard of that turned out to be very cute.

On Saturday we attended a kick off for the March for Babies that was held at the Children's Museum.  The walk will be held on April 30 and for the 5th year in a row we will be raising money for the March of Dimes and will be walking.  More on that to come in a future post.  For now, here are some pictures of my girls "exploring the moon" . . .

Flying airplanes

Playing in water (Audrey's personal favorite)

Making Music

Driving Boats

Peeping out of holes like prairie dogs.

They got to play dress up and pretend to be in a land far far away.
A damsel in distress.
She was in love with all of the stuffed dragons.

Playing doctor.
Checking the baby's ears and throat.
Madeleine played the part of a patient.

At the Children's Museum they can "drive" all sorts of trucks and even motorcycles legally.
Firefighter Madeleine

Electricians driving the LES truck.

This picture scares me because she looks like a natural on that bike.

They also did a little horseback riding, volleyball playing, and cheer leading.
Madeleine proclaimed that she LOVES volleyball!
I think she makes a cute cheer leader.

While my family had a wonderful weekend together, I could not stop thinking of the people effected by the earth quake in Japan.  While I enjoyed the company of my family and the comfort of my home, thousands of people are mourning the loss of their family and have been displaced from their home.  I have been praying continually & I have asked God that every time I am tempted to allow selfish thoughts to creep into my mind that He would direct my thoughts back to Japan.

Great post, Katie! I, too, having about Japan. I can't get those images out of mind. I found myself stopping to pray throughout my day.
