Spring Break

On Monday it was back to the daily grind after the girls enjoyed a week off from school.  Even though it wasn't my my definition of a break (sleeping in until noon every day) we were always in good company.  On Tuesday we enjoyed an impromptu picnic with Grammy at one of our favorite parks.
Grammy is not stealing Audrey's food, just trying to keep it from blowing away in the good ole' Nebraska wind.

"Look mom! I'm a Koala"!
On Wednesday we met some great friends at a lake that is surrounded by a bike trail.  We walked the entire length of it only breaking once to build sand castles and get little toes wet in the water.
Walking and talking . . . if I only I knew what about.

The kids' reward for walking the entire length of the trail was some play time at the park.

The whole crew minus one who is not in any of my pictures because he is the master at disappearing.
It was a relatively hot day (80 degrees in March) so we cooled off with some ice cream.
On Thursday we spent the entire day at the Henry Doorly Zoo where Steven captured a lot of good animal pictures.  If looking at excessive animals pictures puts you to sleep, now would be a good time to bail out.

The following pictures were taken at the Lied Jungle, one of our family's favorite exhibits.

Polly wanna cracker?

Madeleine with her favorite jungle animal, the pygmy hippo.

Steven took this picture on his phone proving my point that the type of camera you use doesn't matter as much as the person behind it.
He found Nemo.

I think wearing his girls looks good on him.

This bird is as vain as a peacock.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, what do you see? I see a cute little girl looking at  me.

Audrey and this baby gorilla sharing a quiet moment.

A decent shot I took of a baby gorilla from my phone.
The ADA recommends that you floss daily . . . even gorillas.

I think we all felt like this by the end of the day.
The girls ended their week with a St. Paddy's day party in honor of their friend's birthday.  They love any excuse to wear a dress and Grammy got them each jean jackets; something I recently learned that Madeleine has wanted her entire life!

And that's a wrap, because I thought I'd end this post as cleverly as I titled it.  Happy Spring!
