Audrey's Room Makeover

If you are friends with me on Facebook, you were subjected to my painting mishaps and complaints.  Two weeks ago I set out to repaint Audrey's room for the first time in 8.5 years.  The last time it was painted was when we first moved into the house and was done with the purpose of being Madeleine's nursery.  The paint and stenciling were painstakingly done by me to match the beautiful crib bedding she had.  I must admit it was a little hard to paint over the stencil and a flood of memories washed over me as I did.  Here is Audrey's room before:

As you can tell, not only had her room not been painted in 8.5 years, but no one took the initiative to remove the cobwebs during that time either.
The next day after spilling the paint, dripping it on the baseboards, splattering a little here and there on the carpet (which I learned, by the way, that a wet cloth with Dawn dishwashing liquid on it will remove if done while the paint is still wet), getting a few specks in my hair, and way more than that on my pants, I was done.  Here is what her room looks like now:
I removed at least 15 stuffed animals from her bed before taking this picture.  15 animals that she meticulously arranges around her before going to bed each night.

The contents of her closet are now hidden behind drapes.

A new room necessitated a few accessories like this rug.

A cute pink room would not be complete without a cute little girl to live in it.
My next project will require some help from my artistically gifted sisters.  In my garage are a desk and a dresser that two different neighbors set out on the curb for the taking.  With a fresh coat of white paint and some new handles, each one will make a lovely addition to Audrey's room.  I will also paint the unsightly green bookcase pictured above, white.  However, all of that will have to wait until Spring (or longer) because it takes me a long time to wrap my brain around painting.
