Winter has officially arrived in the Midwest. The temperature is frigid and the sky is overcast. Since I am not working today, it would be easy to crawl back into my warm bed with a cat at my feet. However, I have resolved to stay strong and ignore the devil on my shoulder tempting me to be that lazy. Since I am determined not to curl up and go back to bed, I have decided to update my blog instead. Sitting in my cozy chair, with a computer in my lap, and two cats at my feet is my best attempt at not being a total sloth. At least it gives me the illusion of doing something productive.
With the arrival of winter came our first real snow fall. The girls were thrilled to have a reason to play outside.

| Madeleine loves to help scoop the driveway. |
| Who turned the lights off?! |
| That's better! |
| Audrey's snow angel. |
Also with the arrival of winter comes Christmas traditions, like the Christmas program at church. That is also when the girls finally get to wear their new dresses that have been hanging in their closets waiting for this very occasion. And of course, the obligatory pictures in front of the Christmas tree follow.
| Madeleine wasn't feeling the Christmas pictures this year. |
| Fortunately, we got this beautiful shot of her regardless of her disdain for Christmas photos. |
| Audrey, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed her time in front of the camera. |
| She worked the camera like a pro. |
| Audrey spontaneously wrapped her arms around Madeleine creating a beautiful picture. |
For the Christmas program Madeleine wore a crown as she sang We Three Kings and Audrey got to wear a halo and wings for Angels We Have Heard on High.

This concludes my blog post, aka attempt at staying awake on a cold winter's day. Next on my list of things to keep me busy is to clean the house and wrap Christmas presents. HA! That is what I should do, but instead I am going to curl up with a good book. A Mary Higgins Clark book, in fact. She can be blamed for my lack of blogging lately. I discovered a love for her writing about 3 weeks ago and have read 3 books in that span of time. I am working on my fourth. I shall wrap myself up in a warm blanket, with a cup of coffee nearby, and get lost in the suspenseful journey of a TV journalist who discovers secrets about her own childhood while producing a television series about a senator who is slated for nomination as the first female Vice president. Her discoveries threaten to destroy her and the reputation of the senator. The suspense is sure to keep me engaged and the book is beckoning me to get lost in its pages now.
